FiCEE 2006 – Where East met West
CMP Information, organisers of all Food Ingredients events are pleased with the success of the recent FICEE show from 30 May – 1 June in Prague. Over 160 exhibiting ingredient suppliers were present in the capital of the Czech Republic to welcome a high quality range of visitors to their stands.
There was an increase of 11% in the number of visitors to the event in comparison with the last edition of FiCEE in 2004. With more than 2/3 of visitors originating from CEE countries, FiCEE once again proved its leading role as a unique meeting place for food professionals from both Eastern and Western Europe. With the addition of 8 CEE countries to the European Union, the Central and Eastern European region has grown significantly. Visitors from these markets represented almost 50% of the total attendance. With the upcoming admittance of Bulgaria and Romania to the EU the growth is expected to continue.
Eliane van Doorn, Group Exhibitions Director commented “I am very happy with the results achieved at FiCEE this year. The show gets stronger and stronger with every edition which demonstrates just how important the event is for the food ingredients market of Central & Eastern Europe.
FiCEE also hosted a 3-day highly focused conference organised in conjunction with IUFoST focusing on the following topic: Are our Safe Foods Sufficiently Safe?
Topics discussed included 3 themes:
1. The legal situation around food additives in Europe
2. Safety of food additives and processed food
3. Processing and food safety / The food industry in the Czech Republic
The Technical Seminars which were held on the second day of the exhibition by Tate & Lyle (topic: European developments in food applications of SPLENDA â Sucralose) and Natura a.s. (topic: ELIANE ästarches for liquid food applications) were well received.
